2021 2022 La Sportiva Youth and Masters Bouldering Championships

This is the stand alone championship event to crown male and female youth and masters champion boulderers for NZ 2021/22 Age categories: Youth D (U12), Youth C (U14), Youth B (U16), Youth A (U18), Junior (U20), Masters (35+)

Two Day Event for all Categories

The qualifying round runs entirely on Saturday - 5 problems, 5 minutes to make unlimited number of attempts to top, 5 minutes rest between problems
The finals run entirely on Sunday - top 6 climbers from qualification round, 4 problems, 4 minutes per problem

Entry fee options for this competition are $55 (Early Bird one category), $65 (regular fee)

Registrations close midnight Thursday 28th October 2021. Early Bird registration price ends midnight Thursday 21st October 2021. Late registrations and those taken on competition day will incur an additional $20 late fee.

 

Competitors must be a member of an affiliated Climbing New Zealand club and have a Domestic Climbing license if they want to be eligible for New Zealand Team selection.

All competitors must complete the domestic license form prior to the competition. Forms are available on the Climbing New Zealand website, or will be available on the day.

Completed forms are to be provided to clubs or provided on the day to officials.

CNZ Age Categories for CNZ events in the 2021/2022 season:

Masters – born during 1987 or earlier
Opens   –  born during 2006 or earlier
Juniors – born during 2003/2004
Youth A – born during 2005/2006
Youth B – born during 2007/2008
Youth C – born during 2009/2010
Youth D – born during 2011 (or later)


FORMAT

Qualifiers (all categories) SATURDAY
There is one qualifying round (5 problems) per category.
Each competitor has 5 mins to make as many attempts as possible to reach the top of the problem. 
In between problems each competitor has 5 mins rest (on a chair in competition zone) during which they are not allowed to observe other competitors bouldering. 
Competitors may not receive any information about the climbs during this resting time.

Finals (all categories) SUNDAY
The top 6 climbers in each category go through to Finals (4 problems).
Isolation Zones.
Cycle through problems in pairs (Male/Female).
Climbers alternating isolation zones between cycles. 
Each cycle is 4 mins per problem.
Climbers' attempts end when their 4 mins are up.
