This is the 3rd and final round of bouldering to crown male and female champion boulderers for NZ 2018 Age categories: Youth D (U12), Youth C (U14), Youth B (U16), Youth A (U18), Junior (U20), Open (16+), Masters (35+)


Bouldering is low-level climbing without ropes on 'boulder problems' set by National-level route setters.
Safety matting protects climbers on falling.
Climbers aim to 'Top' as many problems in as few attempts as possible.
The OPENS competition runs entirely on Saturday. 
There will also be a bouldering competition for Youth C (U14) and D (U12) on Sunday morning.

Entry fee options for this competition are $55 (Early Bird one category), $65 (regular fee one category), $70 (Early Bird two categories), $80 (regular fee two categories), $20 (Youth C/D comp).

Registrations close midnight Thursday 25th October 2018. Early Bird registration price ends midnight Thursday 18th October 2018. Late registrations and those taken on competitions day will incur an additional $20 late fee.


FORMAT

Qualifiers – OPEN M/F / Youth B / Youth A / Juniors / Masters
There is one qualifying round (5 problems) per category.
Each competitor has 5 mins to make as many attempts as possible to reach the top of the problem. 
In between problems each competitor has 5 mins rest (on a chair in competition zone) during which they are not allowed to observe other competitors bouldering. 
Competitors may not receive any information about the climbs during this resting time.

Finals – OPEN M/F / Youth B / Youth A / Juniors / Masters
The top 6 climbers in each category go through to Finals (4 problems).
Isolation Zones.
Cycle through problems in pairs (Male/Female).
Climbers alternating isolation zones between cycles. 
Each cycle is 4 mins per problem.
Climbers' attempts end when their 4 mins are up.
We are allowing for 30 mins per cycle.

Youth C/D competition

10 qualification problems in boulder fest style (queuing and watching everybody else climb). Top 4 in each category through to final (4 problems) using same format as for other Youth categories

7.00 am – Facility opens for warm up, Isolation opens – OPENS M/F

7.00 am – Technical meeting – Team Managers

8.00 am – Isolation closes – OPENS M/F

8.30 am – Qualifiers start – OPENS M/F

10.40 am – Qualifiers end – OPENS M/F

10.45 am – Isolation opens – Youth B / Masters / Youth A / Juniors

11.00 am – Isolation closes – Youth B / Masters / Youth A / Juniors

11.00 am  – Routesetters reset for next round – spectators not allowed in the competition arena until given the all clear by Jury President.

12.30 pm – Qualifiers start – Youth B and Masters

1.20 pm – Qualifiers start – Youth A

1.55 pm Qualifiers start - Junior Males,

2.35 pm - Qualifiers start Junior Females

3.35 pm – Qualifiers end

3.35 pm – Isolation Opens – OPENS M/F

4.00 pm – Isolation Closes – OPENS M/F

4.00 pm – Route setters set up for Opens final - spectators are not allowed in the competition arena until given the all clear by Jury President

5.30 pm – Viewing – OPENS M/F

5.45 pm – Finals start – OPENS M/F

7.45 pm – Finals end – OPENS M/F

8.00 pm – Prize-giving – OPENS M/F

8.30 pm – Route setters set up problems for Sunday

Sunday 28th October 2018 – Qualification Youth C/D (Under 14s) and Finals (Youth C/D / Youth B / Youth A / Juniors / Masters)

7.00 am – Facility opens for warm up

7.30 am – Qualifiers start – Youth C/ Youth D

9.00 am – Qualifiers end – Youth C/ Youth D

9.10 am – Isolation opens – Youth C/ Youth D

9.20 am - Isolation closes – Youth C/ Youth D

9.20 am - Routesetters reset for next round – spectators not allowed in the competition arena until given the all clear by Jury President.

10.00 am – Viewing -  Youth C/ Youth D

10.30 am - Finals Start Youth C/Youth D

10.45 am – Isolation Opens –Youth B, A, Juniors and Masters (all finalists)

11.20 am – Finals end – Youth C/ Youth D

11.20 am – Isolation closes – Youth B, A, Juniors and Masters (all finalists)

11.20 am -  Routesetters reset for next round – spectators not allowed in the competition arena until given the all clear by Jury President.

11.30 am - Prizegiving Youth C/D - if bad weather then postponed to 2.30 pm

12.20 pm – Viewing – Youth B, A, Juniors and Masters (all finalists)

12.30 pm – Finals Start– Youth B, A, Juniors and Masters (all finalists)
