Climbing New Zealand runs a national competition circuit across three disciplines — Bouldering, Lead, and Speed. Events are held throughout the season at climbing walls around the country.

Age categories
CNZ age categories for CNZ events (excluding schools events), 1 September 2026 – 30 April 2027:
- Masters — born 1991 or earlier
- Opens — born 2010 or earlier (must be at least 16 on the date of the event)
- U21 — born 2007 or 2008
- U19 — born 2009 or 2010
- U17 — born 2011 or 2012
- U15 — born 2013 or 2014
- U13 — born 2015 or 2016
- U11 — born 2017 or later (not eligible for Youth team selection)
