Nominations and Expression of Interest for Treasurer

Climbing New Zealand Committee Vacancy – Treasurer

Climbing New Zealand (CNZ) is seeking nominations from those who wish to contribute to the governance and ongoing development of our national organisation by serving as Treasurer on the CNZ Committee.

At the upcoming Annual General Meeting (AGM) on 29 June, members will be asked to elect a new Treasurer to the Committee.

We would like to sincerely thank Jaron for his service over the past nine months. During his time on our Committee, Jaron has played an important role in organising and maintaining CNZ’s financial accounts and supporting the administration of the organisation. We appreciate his contribution and commitment to Climbing New Zealand.

About the Role

The Treasurer is one of the three Executive Committee positions under the CNZ Constitution, alongside the President and Secretary.

The Treasurer is responsible for overseeing the financial affairs of Climbing New Zealand, including:

  • Maintaining oversight of CNZ’s financial records and accounts.
  • Monitoring income, expenditure, and budgets.
  • Providing regular financial reports to the Committee.
  • Assisting with annual financial statements and reporting requirements.
  • Supporting the Committee in making informed financial decisions.
  • Ensuring CNZ meets its financial obligations and governance responsibilities.

The Treasurer works closely with other Committee members to support the strategic direction and sustainable operation of Climbing New Zealand.

Eligibility

Under the CNZ Constitution, the Treasurer is an elected Committee Member and forms part of the Executive. Committee Members are expected to:

  • Support the purposes and objectives of Climbing New Zealand.
  • Act in accordance with the CNZ Constitution, Regulations, policies, and decisions.
  • Participate in Committee meetings and governance activities.
  • Work collaboratively with other Committee members and the climbing community.

Previous experience in accounting, bookkeeping, financial management, governance, or not-for-profit administration would be beneficial but is not essential.

Term of Appointment

The successful candidate will be elected by members at the AGM on 29 June and will serve in accordance with the provisions of the CNZ Constitution.

How to Express Interest and make a nomination

Members interested in standing for the position of Treasurer may express interest directly to the CNZ Committee or be nominated by a member club. In all cases, please provide:

  • A brief introduction about themselves. Relevant skills, experience, and involvement in the climbing community.
  • A short statement outlining why they wish to serve on the CNZ Committee.

Information should be submitted to the CNZ Committee prior to the AGM to allow candidates to be introduced to members.

Help Support Climbing in Aotearoa

This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to the future of climbing in New Zealand and help ensure Climbing New Zealand continues to operate effectively and sustainably.

We encourage anyone with an interest in supporting the climbing community and the governance of our national body to consider putting their name forward.
