Climbing New Zealand (CNZ) has announced the provisional Lead Development Squad for Opens, U19, U17 and Para categories, following the Lead Nationals held in Rotorua on 7 March 2026.

These selections are provisional, subject to appeal, and must be ratified by the CNZ Committee before becoming final. Athletes who wish to appeal must do so within two (2) working days of notification.
Refer to Section 7 of the CNZ Selection Policy. All appeals should be sent to selection@climbing.nz.
What happens next
Once selections are finalised, CNZ will send Expressions of Interest (EOI) to eligible athletes for the Lead competitions for this season.
Selected athletes will be contacted directly by CNZ with EOI details and deadlines.
