Climbing New Zealand is seeking applications for positions of Manager, Head Coach, Assistant Manager, Assistant Coach for the New Zealand Youth Sport Climbing Team (NZYT) for 2018/19.

Please note all positions are voluntary (expenses reimbursed), and for a 2-year term subject to review after the World Youth Championships in Canada in August 2018.

Applicants must be available for travel to Canada for the WYCH (competition dates: August 14th – 22^nd) though the number of officials travelling with the team will depend on the size of the team selected.

Parents/guardians or any person having a direct family relationship (including relationship partners) to any member of the NZYT will not be considered for any of these positions.

Application closing date: October 24^th 2017

Interviews will follow – by Skype or Google Hangouts and we will aim to confirm appointments by early November.

Three NZ competitors attended last weekend’s SCA Youth Champs in Melbourne.  All achieved podium placings.

Congratulations to Isabella Shanks (YC) – 2nd in Lead,  5th in Bouldering.  Oliver Shanks (YB) – 3rd in Lead, 16^th equal in Bouldering. Tom Waldin (YA) – 2nd in Lead, 2nd in Speed, 6th in Bouldering.

Congratulations to the following climbers who have won free entry into the next round of the 2017 National Cup.  This prize is awarded to the climbers with the highest combined Lead and Bouldering scores for their category at each event of the 2017 CNZ calendar.  The prize is valid for each subsequent competition and rolls over to the first comp of 2018.

1) competition and non-competition routesetting experience both in NZ and overseas

2) current grades climbing

3) preparedness to contribute to the NZ domestic competition schedule 2017

4) availability for New Caledonia in Oct – will be full week Mon 9th – Sunday 15th – and preparedness to self-fund if need be
