Climbing New Zealand Open Combined Event Registration and Timetable

Climbing New Zealand Open Combined event is on the 19th and 20th of October 2019 in Mount Maunganui. This event includes Speed, Bouldering and Lead and is a qualification event for the 2020 Oceania Open Combined event in Sydney, Australia which is the Oceania Olympic Qualifier.

Timetable – This timetable is provisional based on a competitor numbers of 30 per gender. Please refer to event page on CNZ website for updates once registration is closed.

Saturday 19 October

9am Speed warm up opens at Blake Park

10am Speed Practice Men then Women

11am Speed Qualification Men then Women

12.30pm Boulder Isolation opens at Rocktopia

1.30pm Boulder Qualifications start. Men and Women together. 4 Blocs, 5 min on 5 mins off

4.40pm Boulder finishes

5.30pm Isolation closes lead

6.30pm Viewing for lead Qualifier, Men and Women

6.45pm Lead Qualifiers start, men and women.

9.15pm Climbing finishes

Sunday 20th October

Top 8 per gender through to Finals (IFSC Rule 11.2.B)

All finals men and women climb at the same time

11am Speed warm up opens at Blake Park. (Rocktopia under closed isolation rules from 7am)

12pm Speed finals Women then Men

1pm Isolation closes at Rocktopia 

1.05 Bloc observation. 3 blocs, 2 mins per bloc

1.20pm Boulder Finals

2.45pm Lead observation

3pm Lead Finals

4pm Prizegiving

Climbing New Zealand (CNZ) and School Sport New Zealand (NZSSSC) are pleased to publish the full results from the National Secondary Schools Climbing Championships for 2019 held on the 2nd and 3rd of September 2019 at Rocktopia in Mount Maunganui.

Our Youth Team depart for Arco, Italy this week-end

  • All the best to our Youth Yeam for WYCH Arco – Oskar Wolff, Alia Robinson, Abby Gebert, Joy Williams, Tayla Manning, Phoebe Kenderdine, Ariana van Lith, Matthew Jones, David Sheppard, Irralee Hair, Sophia Osipova, Kim Forde, Sarah Tetzlaff, Tom Waldin and management team – Zil Yeaman, Rob Moore and Wiz Fineron.
  • The team head to Thailand for a weeks training before flying on to Italy for the Youth World Championships.

Reminder about registering for the National Secondary Schools Event

Registration closes 16th of August

Climbing New Zealand (CNZ) and School Sport New Zealand (NZSSSC) are promoting and organising the National Secondary Schools Climbing Championships for 2019. The competition will be held on the 2nd and 3rd of September 2019 at Rocktopia in Mount Maunganui.

The event is open to all secondary schools. Information about the event and the registration process is available on School Sport website.

IFSC World Climbing Championships commence this week-end for our Kiwi Team

We have 3 kiwi climbers there.

Best of luck to Sarah Tetzlaff, George Sanders, Tom Waldin, who will be competing in all 3 disciplines, Lead, Speed and Bouldering.

The team is supported & managed up in Tokyo by Kerry Crawford and Andrea Crawford.

Bouldering qualifiers commence on Sunday the 11th for Sarah and Monday the 12th for Tom and George.
